The Ultra Relay Run is a one-of-a kind 24-hour running challenge that will bring together runners and the wider athletic community to battle it out - night and day - for top spot on the podium.
The Story:
CAC once held a 24-hour relay, back in the 1980s and 1990s. It was a legendary race, bringing together the running community in Egypt for a special challenge. This year, a group of six high school students in Cairo, five from Cairo American College and one from the British International School, Cairo have been working together through WAVE, a Cairo youth-focused social entrepreneurship platform where students design and run their own social impact projects to revive the 24-hour relay. The group is called "Qalb El Shabab" and includes Tarek Nasser, Elmansour Aly, Ismail Emara, Ziad Elmokadeem, Osama Elbaz and Hassan Elnaggar.
In order to bring the event to life, Qalb El Shabab have partnered up with The TriFactory, Egypt's leading mass participation sports event organiser, to launch the Ultra Relay Run, taking place on October 16th & 17th at the AUC Sports Facility in New Cairo.
The charitable cause chosen by Qalb El Shabab is the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation because it provides heart care free of charge. Funds raised will help build a new neonatal ICU cubicle at the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Cairo, for babies who need care at the very start of their lives.
Join the Ultra Relay Run today - whether the 24-hour version or the 2-hour version - and help us in making a difference and saving lives!
