The TriFactory's second annual #RaceThroughHistory, the Saqqara Pyramid Race, was first introduced in 2022, with a simple 5K Race and 1K Fun Run for families. Since then, the race has grown in size and scale, featuring both 5K and 10K distances, with the 2025 edition welcoming almost 2,000 runners from more than 60 nationalities.
The fifth edition of the race, taking place on Friday, February 13th, 2026, will see an even bigger change - the Saqqara Pyramid Race will now become the Saqqara Half Marathon!
Featuring three distances - 21K, 10K, and 5K, runners will be able to experience the Saqqara Necropolis and all of its beauty and ancient mystery. 21K and 10K runners will even be able to run as far as the nearby Abusir Pyramids, utilising newly opened interlock surface roads that offer unparalleled access to this amazing historical venue.
As always, the Start Line, Finish Line, and Awards Ceremony will be right beneath the 5,000 year old Step Pyramid of Saqqara, giving runners and spectators the chance to rest in the shadow of one of the world's most legendary monuments.

Said to be the world's oldest monumental masonry structure, the unique pyramid of Djoser - the centrepiece of the Saqqara Necropolis - is part of a mortuary complex for the 3rd Dynasty King Djoser. Created by the architect Imhotep, it is a unique stepped pyramid with 6 tiers. As well as the Step Pyramid, Saqqara offers a variety of archaeological treasures for visitors to experience, including the blue tiles of Djoser's tomb, the hieroglyphs in the pyramid of Pepi I, the Doors of the Cats (Abwab el Qotat), and of course the world-famous Serapeum (burial chambers of the Apis bulls).

The Saqqara Half Marathon is open to all runners. The minimum age for the 5K Race is 8 years old, 12 years for the 10K Race, and 16 years for the 21K Race. Age is calculated based on year of birth.
The Saqqara Half Marathon will be organised in accordance with international standards and the rules and regulations set forth by World Athletics, the Egyptian Athletics Federation, and The TriFactory. Doping controls will be regulated by the relevant authorities and the Race Organiser reserves the right to request random drug testing of any athlete at the event.

Every Saqqara Half Marathon participant will receive a finisher’s medal upon successful completion of their race. Rankings will be organised in overall and age group categories.
The Awards Ceremony will feature gold, silver, and bronze medals for both overall and age group winners. Overall winners (top three males and top three females) will also receive special prizes.

Tickets for the Saqqara Half Marathon include Race Number (with MyLaps Timing Strip) and access to the Saqqara Necropolis, as well as the Finisher T-Shirt, Finisher Medal, and digital certificate, all three of which are received following successful completion of the race distance.

The Saqqara Necropolis is located roughly one hour from central Cairo. Parking is incredibly limited, due to the smaller overall area (in comparison to the Giza Pyramid Plateau) and the stringent controls implemented at the gate due to the sensitive archaeological nature of the site.
As a result, The TriFactory will be selling a limited number of car passes, as agreed with the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities & the Tourism Police, while also providing bus transportation from five locations across Cairo. Car passes are now available on a first come, first served basis. Bus tickets are available for the buses departing and returning to the following locations:

2. Total Gas Station Maadi Gate #2 (Maadi)
3. Emirates Gas Station next to Downtown Mall (New Cairo)
4. Abdelmoneim Riad Square (Downtown Cairo)

1. Payment of tickets can be made online.
2. Ticket Changes: Ticket holders may change their race choice before the General Registration Deadline by canceling the ticket and purchasing a new one. In this case, the new ticket will be purchased at the price point valid at the new date of purchase. If the new date of purchase falls under a new ticketing phase, then ticket buyers will not benefit from the lower price they had paid during an earlier ticket phase.
3. Ticket Cancellation: Ticket holders can cancel their tickets before the General Registration Deadline and receive the full amount paid as credit in their electronic wallet, to be used for future purchases. For a step-by-step guide on how to cancel your ticket, please visit our FAQs here.
4. Following the General Registration Deadline, no changes or cancellations will be possible, regardless of personal or medical circumstances, including COVID-19 or otherwise. A full refund will only be allowed in the event that a government-declared lockdown is enforced and the race is cancelled or postponed.
5. Tickets cannot be transferred/resold to other participants under any circumstances. At the Expo/Race Pack Pick-Up, participants must present a valid photo ID that matches their ticket, in order to receive their Race Pack Pick-Up.
6. Running on behalf of someone else or sneaking into the race without a ticket will result in a permanent ban from The TriFactory events.
7. Ticket fees do not include Value Added Tax (14% VAT).
