Trailmaster is the latest addition to The TriFactory's family of sports events. Following the 2017 success of El Wadi Trail Run, an event organised at Wadi Degla on the outskirts of Cairo, the long-term plans for a dedicated trail running brand were put into motion.

Trailmaster is the result: a trail running brand that offers various distances in beautiful locations across Egypt, allowing trail runners of all ages and abilities the opportunity to take part.

For Trailmaster runners, each distance corresponds to a rank, and as athletes move up in rank and eventually complete an 84K off-road ultramarathon, they will be deserving of the title "Trailmaster". Outdoor athletes taking part in Trailmaster will be able to experience amazing natural destinations in Egypt, while at the same time competing in running races with all the benefits and features expected from The TriFactory, including awesome race medals, professional timing services, and Endurance League points.

The Ranking System:

  • 5K = Trailsprinter

  • 10K = Trailracer

  • 21K = Trailblazer

  • 42K = Trailmarathoner

  • 84K = Trailmaster

The very first Trailmaster event, Trailmaster Wadi Degla, will take place on Saturday, September 19th. It will feature three distances: 5K, 10K, & 21K.

Location & Course:

Trailmaster Wadi Degla takes place at Wadi Degla Protectorate near Maadi in Cairo. All three distances will begin and end right next to the entrance of the Protectorate, where participants will be able to park their cars and leave their belongings. All three distances will be organised in the lower portion of Wadi Degla, with runners taking on a relatively flat race course in the middle of the valley.

Aid Stations:

All three Trailmaster races are officially self-supported, with emergency aid stations available at the halfway point for each distance. This means that there will be 1 aid station for the 5K, 2 aid stations for the 10K, and 3 aid stations for the 21K. Runners are encouraged to rely on their own methods to ensure they are effectively hydrated when taking on what is expected to be a hot & dry race course.

Medical care at the Start & Finish Line is provided by Ibrahim Badran Foundation (IBF). IBF will also be present on the race course itself.

Utilities & Important Information:

  • Participants will be able to park at the entrance of the Protectorate. Car pooling is encouraged.

  • Toilets are available at the Start & Finish Line.

  • There will not be a baggage claim. Participants are encouraged to leave their belongings in their cars.

  • Due to precautions related to COVID-19, there will not be a spectator area with seats or shading.

  • COVID-19 precautionary measures will be taken in the form of proper social distancing, separation of each race distance, and disinfection of all touchpoints.
