This May 15th, Raya is proud to present the first ever 'Row The Nile' event, taking place at the newly renovated Lac Du Caire in Central Cairo. Row The Nile is inspired by Egypt's long tradition of rowing races on Nile waters, which until recently only featured professional rowers. Now, with the advent of advanced rowing machines, the barrier to entry has been eradicated - everyone can be a rower, everyone can compete, and everyone can Row The Nile from anywhere across Egypt.
Raya is partnering up with The TriFactory to organise this event, with rowing specialists Cairow on board as technical partners. Lac Du Caire was selected as the venue for its close proximity to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC), which showcases Egyptian heritage and culture and currently displays world-famous Pharaonic rowboat models. Twenty-five indoor rowing machines will be placed at the Lac, overlooking the NMEC and welcoming rowers and athletes from across Egypt to compete for top prizes. The competition format will include distances of 500m and 1000m, individual and relay options, and the chance to win prizes totaling EGP 200,000.
The first edition of Row The Nile presented by Raya promises to be an amazing rowing machine competition, featuring both professional participants and amateur athletes, a one-of-a-kind setting, and an unbeatable atmosphere full of action and adrenaline.
