The first Aswan42 - the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation Marathon took place on February 24th, 2017 in the beautiful city of Aswan, and organised for the second time on February 2nd, 2018. The event is a one-of-a-kind marathon experience alongside the River Nile. Participants take in Aswan's amazing scenery and run for an amazing cause: fundraising for the Aswan Heart Centre and the free heart surgeries it provides for both adults and children.
Stay tuned for announcements regarding Aswan42 2019, and Come Run The River Nile, and raise funds for an amazing cause: the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation!
Aswan is one of Egypt's oldest cities, situated on the banks of the River Nile. With beautiful scenery, temperate weather conditions, and completely flat terrain, it serves as an excellent host for a running race. Athletes will be able to select from several hotels, all close to the race venue, in order to ensure the most convenient travel and accommodation experience. In February, the weather in Aswan is expected to be between 25-30 degrees Celsius. Right outside of Aswan are several iconic Ancient Egyptian landmarks, including Philae, Edfu, and the island of Elephantine.
Full Marathon - 42.2 KM
Half Marathon - 21.1 KM
